Introducing SOLDIERHOOD: The Art of Service
When I talk about SOLDIERHOOD, I am really talking about the life we have lived—wearing a uniform, serving on the front line, and learning that true leadership is about service, not status. SOLDIERHOOD is a way of bringing together the discipline of the military and the heart of biblical servant leadership to help veterans and mid‑career professionals step into their next chapter with courage and clarity. It is the framework I wish I had when I first started navigating life after the British army motto ‘Best The Best’.

For me, the core mission of SOLDIERHOOD is simple: leave people better than you found them. In the forces, we learn duty, honour, loyalty, and courage; in Scripture, we are reminded that “whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” That blend sits at the heart of SOLDIERHOOD, which is about ‘Serve The Rest’. We use this framework to bridge military culture with ethical, purpose‑driven entrepreneurship, and it underpins my work with Leavers to Leaders so that your next mission is as meaningful as your last.
Right now, with AI, global uncertainty, and social change, many people feel lost about where they fit in. I created SOLDIERHOOD to equip you to thrive in this new landscape by putting service above self, just as we did in uniform and just as Christ modelled when He washed the feet of His disciples. Whether you are a veteran or a mid‑career professional, I want you to have the tools, mindset, and support to succeed in civilian life while making a positive impact in your community.

The SOLDIERHOOD framework is built on a few non‑negotiables:
- Service first – In the military, your team comes before your ego. In the same way, SOLDIERHOOD teaches you to SOLDIER by empower others, giving people the authority that matches their responsibility so they can grow and lead. “I cannot trust a man to control others who cannot control himself. Do your duty in all things. You should never wish to do less.”––GEN Robert Lee
- Military roots – I draw heavily on discipline, resilience, and cultural understanding, especially from Commonwealth and Gurkha communities. These experiences shape how my team and I coach, mentor, and design programmes for those who have worn, or still wear, a uniform. “I think that there is something to the expression ’born to lead’. But there are many people who have the potential for leadership, just as there are probably many people born with the potential to be great artists that never have the opportunity or the training for the full development of their talents. I think leadership is a product of native ability plus environment By environment, I mean training and the opportunity to exercise leadership”––GEN Dwight Eisenhower
- Ethical growth – My faith reminds me that leadership without integrity is empty. That is why SOLDIERHOOD weaves biblical servant leadership into practical, often accredited learning so you can build sustainable, ethical ventures—not just successful ones. GEN Bruce Clarke said–– “Rank is given you to enable you to better serve those above and below you It is not given for you to practice your idiosyncrasies.”. Many biblical leaders (Moses, Gideon, David) begin with no human advantage but are used powerfully because of obedience, faith, and humility, showing that inner disposition outweighs external resources.
