You might not have voted for them, you may not even like them, but they listen & act. An important part of Leadership is Followership.
As a leader you need to listen to those around you, learn from them & then act. By following your people, you are better able to serve & protect them.
This is Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the right. He talks to his people every night. He takes hard and real questions, answers what he knows and refers to people who know better when needed. He holds it together like a leader should and he is there every day telling you what the best things to protect and save your loved ones.
Since Iraq (Operation Telic) for those with military knowledge, I lost faith in most Prime Ministers, because the military is always seen as a spanner; they use & abuse them to get things done. I have no problem with that. But right now, we need the front line services & the military to keep our supply lines running and what’s better to be lead by a PM who listens.
On the left meet Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Exchequer, born in my city of residence, Southampton, and perhaps the best that came out of Southampton. He acts rightly from the beginning to not only give a supportive message, but is backed by a financial plan to help businesses whatever the size, employees & the sick during this time of crisis.
The challenge still lies ahead but I think even if we come to a complete lockdown it will be backed by science & intelligence, because we have a strong leadership in place to get us out of this situation, and this is the time for Leaders to follow, listen & act.
